A man accused of punching two hospital security guards and an X-ray technician was charged Tuesday in Oklahoma County District Court with three counts of assault and battery upon an emergency medical care provider.

George Lance Batiste, 28, is accused of punching St. Anthony Hospital security guards Earl Smith and Michael Heil and technician Eric Dahl on May 1, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Batiste had been placed in emergency detention and was waiting to be evaluated when he tried to run away, police reported.

He punched Smith several times in the arms before punching Dhal in the face, according to the affidavit. When Heil tried to assist, Batiste punched him in the face, knocking off his glasses, police reported.
