Under the Radar Video of the Week #2

This week, the oddest DVD on release lists appears to be:

“Bikini Frankenstein” from exploitation auteur Fred Olen Ray. It’s a soft-core teaser sets the old monster saga on its ear with a tale about the cynical Dr. Frankenstein, who is convinced that the average guy can’t tell the difference between a living babe and a sexy corpse. So he sets out to piece together an undead hottie named Eve (Jayden Cole) and sets her loose on some randy male test subjects.

Ray is something of a legend in ultra-low budget circles, and his 20-plus-year, 100-film resume is studded with salacious titles suited mainly for drive-ins, inner-city grindhouse venues and straight-to-video releases. And he obviously has a thing for bikinis, having produced such titles as “Bikini a Go Go,” “The Bikini Escort Company,” “Bikini Airways,” “Bikini Hoe-Down,” “Bikini Drive-in” and the upcoming “Bikini Royale 2” and “Bikini Jones and the Temple of Eros.”

On top of all that, the very busy Ray maintains a thriving career in professional wrestling, where he grapples under the name Fabulous Freddie Valentine.

“Bikini Frankenstein” is not rated. It’s being released by Infinity Entertainment Group at a suggested retail price of $14.98.
