The odd couple: Taylor Swift and Def Leppard performing together

The show that comes on the CMT channel titled “CMT Crossroads” often pairs unlikely musicians together for a concert including Babyface and Tricia Yearwood; Maroon 5 and Sara Evans; John Mayer and Brad Paisley.

However, when I found out that they were teaming up country singer Taylor Swift with rock legends Def Leppard, I was stunned to say the least.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with “CMT Crossroads,” the show brings two musical acts together and have them perform duets to each other’s songs.

So basically, Taylor Swift will be performing Def Leppard songs along with the group and vice versa.

I’m not passing judgement, but it’s hard for me to believe that Taylor Swift can pull off Def Leppard songs. Her voice is soft and soothing, but it’s not loud and rock-like.

Several years back, Mariah Carey did a Def Leppard remake of “Bringin on the Heartbreak.” She put her own spin on it, and she pulled it off well.

However, Taylor Swift is no Mariah Carey.

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe CMT knows what they’re doing. We’ll just have to watch the show and see. The show airs Nov. 7.
