Mariah Carey apologizes for terrible performance

If you saw pop singer Mariah Carey perform Tuesday at Michael Jackson’s memorial service, you probably noticed how she sounded… let me think of a polite way to say this… She sounded terrible.

She sang the Jackson 5 hit song “I’ll Be There” along with Trey Lorenz.  Throughout her performance, her voice cracked several times, and she sounded very amateurish.

On her Twitter page, Carey apologized for her performance and explained why she didn’t sound so good.

She said Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.”

I’m sure she was emotional during the service–everyone was.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the building.

However, I think she might be using that as an excuse for her lousy performance.
