Country singer Kenny Chesney is the latest musician who will have a concert film in movie theaters.

The film titled “Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D” will be in theaters April 21.  Footage for the film was taped during Chesney’s Sun City Carnival tour last year.

I’ve noticed there has been a trend with musicians releasing their concert films in the theaters.

They are often cheap to produce, but they rake in a respectable amount of money at the box office.

For example “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” earned $72 million at the box office in the United States, “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of both Worlds” earned $65 million and ”Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience made $19 million.
