TV's fall season finally here
Raise your hand if you’re happy that the new season in TV starts this week! Along with some of my favorites from last season including “Glee,” “Big Bang Theory,” “The Bachelor,” “Community,” “The Middle,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Parenthood,” this season has some new shows that look like winners.
My kind of TV shows are comedies and some reality shows. I’m really not into the shows about sexual predators, crime scenes, hospital dramas and such. I’m more interested in shows that make light of situations we all deal with. For example, “Glee” reminds me of my own show choir days back in middle school and high school. There were no happier times. “The Middle” is like someone stepped into my home and created a set of characters based on my own family’s eccentricities. And “Parenthood” is a great amalgamation of parenting types and situations that are familiar to almost every parent.
Here are a few of the new shows I’m looking forward to.
“Better With You,” 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, ABC: It’s about sisters Maddie (Jennifer Finnigan), a high-strung attorney, and Mia (“Privileged’s” JoAnna Garcia), a free-spirited inventor. Maddie lives with, but has not married, Ben (Josh Cooke), her boyfriend of nine years. “It’s a valid life choice,” she repeats throughout the pilot. Mia, on the other hand, has just agreed to marry Casey (Jake Lacy), her boyfriend of 7½ weeks. Kurt Fuller and Debra Jo Rupp play the girls’ quirky parents.
