Comic Russell Brand a ‘bit more devious' since marriage to singer Katy Perry

Just because Russell Brand is married to the lovely Katy Perry doesn’t mean he’s toned down his raunchy stand-up routine.

“No, I don’t actually,” he told E! Online at Variety’s Power of Comedy event, where he was being honored Saturday night. “It’s probably become a little bit more devious.”

As for whether Perry approves of his off-color comedy, the crazily-coiffed comedian said they have a deal.

“I think we have a pact with our professional lives. It’s all just pretend,” he explained.

Although Perry wasn’t with Brand at the event, another special woman was on hand to present Brand’s award: Helen Mirren.

The unlikely friends became close after working together on two movies.

“He’s the best, kindest and goodest bad boy you’re ever going to be lucky enough to meet,” Mirren told the crowd at Club Nokia.

And, as promised, Brand’s remarks during his acceptance speech were definitely dirty.

On stage, he talked about being arrested 12 times and his days as a sex and drug addict.

Despite all the jokes, the event had a serious side, as well. It was sponsored by the Noreen Fraser Foundation, which benefits women’s cancer research. Brand’s mother had cancer three times, which he told the audience.
