The colorful and happy butterfly pin is a special symbol representing the Oklahoma City Multiple Sclerosis Society. Proceeds from products with the butterfly will help fund research in Oklahoma.
“Carrying the Cure on the Wings of A Butterfly” is the theme for the Oklahoma City logo pin for the 6th annual Women Against Multiple Sclerosis. The enamel pin was created last year by volunteer Kirk Hammons, Oklahoma MS director Paula Cortner and Oklahoma City Chapter director Lucy Fraser.
This year’s invitation to the MS luncheon on May 11 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum featured the butterfly too.
The idea for the annual event came from Nancy Ellis in 2002 whose daughter was diagnosed with the disease.
2007 steering committee members are Theresa Bozalis, Michelle Ellis, Courtney Holliday, Kimberly Lohman, Kelly Moody, Elishica Morton, Kerry Mueller, Lori Payne, Myrla Pierson, Angela Reynolds, Cindy Riesen and Cindi Shelby.
