Parties Extra!---April 18th, 2008---Reception Honors Mother of the Year

FIRST MOMS….2008 Oklahoma Mother of the Year Wanda Swisher and Oklahoma Young Mother Representative Kelly McLain were honored at a ceremony in the Blue Room of the Oklahoma State Capitol and at a reception in the Capitol Rotunda.

They also visited the House of Representatives and Senate during the day.

Also honored as 2008 Oklahoma Honorary Young Mother of the Year was Kim Henry, wife of Gov. Brad Henry.

On the program in the Blue Room were President of Oklahoma American Mothers Inc. Karen Mayfield, Dorothy Hammert, Gov. Henry, Kim Henry and Lt. Gov. Jari Askins. Among the other people on the program were Bill Welge, Cynthia Collins-Clark, Jody Gooden, Madison Wisdom and John Lippert and family members and friends of Swisher and McLain.

Carolyn and Don Zachritz hosted a gorgeous party at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country.

Everyone came to the event in a party mood and enjoyed the beautiful flowers, the good food and visiting with their friends. The flower arrangements were large bouquets of single-colored roses, lilacs, tulips and daffodils. The buffet table featured all of those flowers, plus peonies and hydrangeas and branches of peach blossoms.

VERY HAPPY….A Mexican Fiesta buffet and tabletop shower honored Rachel Samara and Nelson Bolen. The party was in the home of Sherry and Jerry Cash.

Co-hosts were Rhonda and Dick Hefton, Kathy and Hal Brown, Shirley and Pete Everest, Laurie and Charlie Givens, Susan and Peter Hoffman, Linda and Tom Klos, Karen and Mike Samis, Mary Kay and Bobby Samis and Kent Potter.

Lots of lighted candles and white vases filled with Gerber daisies decorated the tables and the hosts gave the engaged couple a platter in their china pattern.

HISTORIC AFFAIR…A reunion of Norman’s Central State Griffin Memorial Hospital Psychiatric Residency Training program graduates (1956 to 2007) was held at the Oklahoma City Marriott.

There were 85 alumni members at the party as well as faculty, mental health professionals, family members, guests and friends.

Dr. Ernest Shadid was honored and the late Dr. Hayden H. Donahue was remembered during the program and a Donahue-Shadid Psychiatric Alumni Society was established.

Dr. Willis Holloway jr. was master of ceremonies and Dr. Ana Maria Gutierrez gave the welcome. Talk of the Town Band played.

Among the others on the program were Dr. Jennifer Morris, Dr.Linda Lantrip, Dr. Shadid, Dr. Jodie Edge, Dr. Lori Hake, Dr. Stan Ardoin, Bonnie Jones, Dr. Don Chesler, Dr. Kevin Robinett and Dr. Jane Robinett.
