GATHERING OF THE ANGELS…The 12th annual Pi Beta Phi Alumnae “Gathering Of The Angels” luncheon was another huge success.

The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State sorority alum members and their guests had a wonderful lunch of gourmet chicken pot pie and strawberry crepes. There were beautiful table decorations of roses and decorative angel sculptures. There was a gorgeous speaker. There was an auction of fabulous prizes, and a lovely harpist playing preceding lunch.

The entire luncheon was executed in a timely manner from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. And the Pi Phis raised money for CityCare’s Whiz Kids, Celebrations and the national Pi Beta Phi literacy projects.

Carolyn Zachritz played the harp. Beautifully -decorated baskets of prizes, many of them with the angel theme, were raffled off to the crowd. Among the winners were Berta Faye Rex, Jane Harlow, Linda Kennedy Rosser, Lillie-Beth Brinkman. Kay Brezny, Nan Buxton, Lil Ross, Kendra Yandell, Melanie Hanenbaum and Renee Knox.

Miss Oklahoma 2007, Makenna Smith, also a Pi Beta Phi member, spoke about her life and pageant experiences. She was a survivor in a car collision and became an advocate for automobile safety through her program “Seat Belts Save Lives. What’s Holding You Back?”

In 2004 she launched an area safety poster contest for every school in Oklahoma and worked with Oklahoma legislators for bills strengthening penalties on drivers with improperly buckled children.
