Opal Mae Lents McCarty celebrated her  birthday in Kansas City, Ks., at a party with her three daughters, Ann Gagliardi, Kay Eberhart and Lou Moss, and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great- great -grandchild.

She thought she was attending a bridal party for a granddaughter in Kansas when family members surprised her at Mimi’s.

During her lifetime she kept journals and daughter Ann Gagliardi typed them up and created a book for her called “Opal’s Memoirs.”
