YANKEE PITCHER HONORED

Nikki Spahn Fitzpatrick and Kara Spahn Jordan, granddaughters of National Baseball Hall of Famer Warren Spahn, show the Warren Spahn Award they will present  to New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia at the Gala on Jan. 17.

The Warren Spahn Award Gala honoring New York Yankees Pitcher C.C. Sabathia is  set for Jan. 17 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.  A celebrity reception will proceed the event. The events are being hosted by members of the Bricktown Rotary Club.

This is Sabathia’s second year to win the award presented to the best left-handed pitcher in Major League baseball.

The Gala will also included a sports memorabilia silent auction. Proceeds benefit the Jim Thorpe Association and Rotary Foundation.

This is the 10th year for the award presentation.Established in 1999 by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame Museum in Guthrie to honor Spahn, holder of the Major League Baseball record of 363 wins as a left handed pitcher. Other former winners include Randy Johnson, Andy Pettitte, Johan Santana and Dontrelle Willis.
