Tom McDaniel, 2010 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal

Tom McDaniel, Oklahoma City University President, is the Grand Marshal of the 2010 St. Patrick’s Parade which is set for March 13th.

He will also be honored on March 6th at the St. Patrick’s Green Tie Gala. The event benefits the Catholic Charities’ Sanctuary Women’s Development Center, a special program for homeless women and children. It is at 6:30 p.m. at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. Martin Rouine, consul general of Ireland, will attend.

The honor of “Grand Marshal” is given each year to a man or woman of Irish descent who has made extraordinary contributions to the Oklahoma City community. The Parade is at 1 p.m. March 13th and Paula Jones is parade committee chairman. The parade begins at NW 6th and Broadway.

McDaniel’s community service includes positions on the Oklahoma Centennial Commission, State Fair of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the Oklahoma State Chamber, UMB Oklahoma Bank, St. Anthony’s Hospital, Downtown Rotary Club. He and his wife, Brenda, have chaired the Oklahoma City Art Museum’s annual Renaissance Ball and were 2006 co-chairmen for the Reflections of Hope dinner for the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial Foundation.
