It was a full moon. Not just any full moon but one that where you stop the car and pull over to take pictures. Something special was getting ready to happen.
The red Ingo Maurer Light fixture (Custom Made in Germany by the artist) marked the entrance and mirrored the moon, doing its best to compete for attention.
The party marked the official rebirth of the building. From the front entrance to the top of the penthouse, City Place has been completely made over by the teams of Butzer Gardner and Sees Design.
For a building that was originally erected in the 30′s in a race to finish with First National, its only fitting that it sees its makeover as Devon rises just blocks away and accepts the torch of Oklahoma Citys bright future coming full circle.
Party was hosted by Roy & Becky Oliver, Ran & Brooke Oliver,Stanton & Kerry Nelson, Mark & Diane Beffort, Kent Potter, Corbin & Sara See, Ross & Brenna See, and Carson & Marsha See.
Guests were greeted in the lobby by a harp player and taken upstairs to the Penthouse by elevator operators in period 30′s attire where the music was just a bit louder and people partied like there was another Prohibition coming.
The ladies were draped in pearls and the men were sporting white dinner jackets and pinstripe suits to match.
The Penthouse had been fully furnished by Sees Design in custom tailored furnishing, accessories, and fixtures. Stylistically the design seeks to be both current and luxurious, but with a respectful nod to the buildings heritage and Art Deco period.
After the guests enjoyed drinks in the penthouse, took in 360 views of downtown, were entertained by tap dancers and cigarette girls (offering mints of course) the party moved downstairs to the 30th floor to enjoy drinks, dining, and a dance floor that didn’t stop until the full moon went down.
