Underwood, who hails from Checotah, won her second straight entertainer of the year prize, becoming the first woman to earn the academy’s top award twice. “Thank you, country music. God bless you, country music. Thank you fans, thank you fans” Underwood exclaimed, jumping in celebratory circles as she accepted the fan-voted honor at the Las Vegas awards show. Underwood earned the entertainer title against an expanded field of seven other nominees: fellow Okie Toby Keith, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Urban and Zac Brown Band. The 2005 “American Idol” winner also was officially greeted into the elite group of ACM Triple Crown honorees, for winning the top new female vocalist, top female vocalist and entertainer prizes in the course of her career. <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-20734" title="miranda lambert new 5 for blog" src="http://blog.newsok.com/bamsblog/wp-content/imagescaler/612b5c8367c43370c9f72d55292ccb8c.jpg" alt="" width="365" height="487" imagescaler="http://blog.newsok.com/bamsblog/wp-content/imagescaler/acf9011cfb57b0bbe915c1c7e96ad564.jpg" /> <strong>Miranda Lambert </strong> Lambert, a Texas native who now lives in Tishomingo, took home three awards: this year’s top female vocalist trophy, along with album of the year award for “Revolution” and video of the year “White Liar.” “This music is what I do. It's the only thing I live for, and thanks for loving it. Really, changed my life,” she said as she accepted the album award. The singer-songwriter became the first female artist to win two album of the year awards; she won in 2008 with her sophomore effort “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” Lambert was so shocked to win the female vocalist title, she leaned over to her beau, fellow Tishomingo resident and country music star Blake Shelton, and asked if the announcer really said her name. Lambert ended a three-year streak for Underwood in the category, and the two embraced on Lambert’s way to the stage. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” she said when she incredulously accepted the trophy, praising her fellow nominees and thanking her peers. Both Underwood and Lambert went into Sunday’s awards show with six nominations. Lambert said in a phone interview last week that she planned to celebrate any ACM wins with relatives and friends. “My family will be there, my mom and dad, and my band and crew, so I’ll just probably hang out with them and just celebrate. We’ve all worked really hard. You know, I’ve been fortunate enough to win a couple of ACMs before, and it’s just great to have people you really care about around you in those moments,” Lambert said, laughingly adding that Shelton would be invited to party with her. Shelton, who was born in Ada, is celebrating an ACM win of his own: He and Trace Adkins earned the vocal event of the year award for their chart-topping duet "Hillbilly Bone." It was Shelton’s first ACM win. <img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-20735" title="brooks &amp; dunn - publicity pic" src="http://blog.newsok.com/bamsblog/wp-content/imagescaler/5c367fca39b4be7129358a70e23bd07c.jpg" alt="" width="512" height="336" imagescaler="http://blog.newsok.com/bamsblog/wp-content/imagescaler/5c367fca39b4be7129358a70e23bd07c.jpg" /> <strong>Brooks &amp; Dunn</strong> Brooks &amp; Dunn, which includes former Tulsan Ronnie Dunn, marked their last ACM Awards as a musical pairing with a 16th win in the top vocal duo category. It also was the pair’s 27th overall ACM award, the most of any artist in academy history. In August, Dunn and Kix Brooks announced that they would end their 20-year partnership after “The Last Rodeo Tour,” which kicks off Friday and comes to Tulsa May 28. “We are currently in therapy with Brett Favre to try and figure out how to waffle on this,” Brooks joked, then added, “It’s just been a wonderful, amazing, incredible dream experience.” To honor the duo’s achievements, several music stars are performing Monday in Las Vegas at a tribute concert titled “ACM Presents: Brooks &amp; Dunn — The Last Rodeo,” which will air May 23 on CBS. Oklahoma stars stayed visible throughout the 45th Annual ACM Awards, which aired live Sunday night from the MGM Grand in Vegas. Reba McEntire, who hails from Chockie, served as host for the 12th time and also performed her new single “Keep on Lovin’ You.” Along with their solo performances, Underwood and Lambert opened the show, rocking through Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Travelin’ Band” along with CCR’s John Fogerty, Charlie Daniels and Brad Paisley. Norman resident Keith and smooth jazz saxophonist Dave Koz gave a special benefit performance of “Cryin’ for Me (Wayman’s Song). The song is Keith’s hit tribute to his friend and fellow Oklahoman Wayman Tisdale, the pro basketball player turned jazz bassist who died last year after a long battle with cancer. Sales of audio and video downloads of the performance will benefit the charity Stand Up To Cancer. Other performers with state ties included Brooks &amp; Dunn, Shelton with Adkins and Rascal Flatts. Trio Lady Antebellum went into the ACM Awards with a leading seven nominations and captured five trophies, winning top vocal group  — snapping Rascal Flatts’ seven-year streak in the category — and song and single of the year for the hit ballad “Need You Now.” Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley received two trophies for their single record win because they also produced the record, and got two trophies for song of the year because they composed it. Paisley won the top male vocalist title for the fourth consecutive time, while Luke Bryan earned the fan-voted top new artist award. Duo Montgomery Gentry was honored with The Home Depot Humanitarian Award. Although she went into the ACMs with five nominations and has notched big wins at recent awards shows, contemporary country sensation Swift experienced a rare shutout Sunday night.
