The 23rd film in the venerable James Bond series has been delayed indefinitely until the financial issues surrounding MGM are resolved, reports Collider.com and our friend Matt Price of Nerdage.

“Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on BOND 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of BOND 23,” stated Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli jointly, according to Collider.

“The Quantum of Solace,” the last Bond film and the second of the Daniel Craig reboot era, cost $200 million and it made $586 million at the worldwide box office. As Collider puts it, once the sale of MGM is complete, getting BOND 23 back in licensed-to-kill shape will undoubtedly be a top priority.
