— The bottom of Oklahoma's lineup worked the count and waited.

Then the Sooners attacked, getting on base so the top of the lineup, namely Lauren Chamberlain, could drive them in.

In the top-ranked Oklahoma softball team's 10-5 victory against Arkansas on Saturday in the NCAA Norman Regional, No. 6 hitter Brittany Williams went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

While the 7-8-9 hitters struggled to get on base in the first three innings, they ignited in Sooners the last three innings. Destinee Martinez, Callie Parsons and Brianna Turang all reached base in the fifth and sixth, which allowed Chamberlain to knock them in for five RBIs.

“Our 7-8-9 keep doing the job, finding a way to get on,” Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso said. “Thus Lauren is back at the plate and opening the game up again. It was just a tag-team effort though.”

TWO OKLAHOMANS CONTRIBUTE FOR RAZORBACKS

Arkansas second baseman Sierra Bronkey and starting pitcher Hope McLemore are both Oklahomans, but they aided the Razorbacks on Saturday.
