On Sunday night, Tishomingo country star Blake Shelton won the American Music Award for best male country artist. Not that he noticed.

Apparently, that particular trophy is awarded off camera, so the Ada native was neither in attendance at the soiree in Los Angeles – nor was he awake. He didn’t find out about his win until this morning, and naturally, he took to Twitter (@blakeshelton) to express his befuddled excitement.

“(Unusual expletive) I just found out I won an American Music Award lastnight! I only stayed awake long enough to watch Adam and Christina.. Ha!” he tweeted, referring to the appearance by Maroon 5′s Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera, his fellow judges on the hit reality TV show “The Voice.”

“Anyway thank y’all for voting your asses off for me!!! I promise next time yall are up for an AMA I’m gonna vote everyday for you!!! Swear!!” he wrote in a second post.
