The British Country Music Awards named Norman resident Toby Keith the International Act of the Year and bestowed International Album of the Year honors on his current album “Clancy’s Tavern” earlier this month, according to a news release.

The U.K.’s only event of its kind, the sold-out BCM Awards at Heathrow’s Concorde Club “honour those that have given to the cause of British Country Music.” The Clinton native accepted his awards via video.

The recognition follows the Moore-bred singer/songwriter/producer’s wildly successful European tour late last year and is the latest feather “Clancy’s Tavern” has added to Keith’s hat. Smash hits “Made In America” and “Beers Ago,” along with the explosive popularity of country music’s biggest-ever viral sensation “Red Solo Cup,” powered the album, which bowed last year at No. 1 across all-genres in the U.S.

Keith is preparing for the Nov. 13 release of his next album, “Hope on the Rocks,” with the first single, “I Like the Girls That Drink Beer,” cruising up the charts.
