"The Voice" to air three nights during election week

During election week, NBC is planning to air five hours over three nights of its hit reality show “The Voice.”

While Americans head to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 6, “The Voice” will give the nation’s music fans their first chances this season to vote on their favorite singing contenders, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

Along with its usual airing from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, NBC has added special live broadcasts of “The Voice” from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 and 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. The Voice will not be broadcast in its regular Tuesday slot that week due to NBC’s election night coverage, according to the trade publication.

The episodes the week of Nov. 5 will be the first live shows of the season; viewers will have the chance to weigh in on which artists get into the Top 12.

For the second time this season, “The Voice’s” additional shows on Wednesday and Thursday will put the show in direct competition with Fox’s reality singing contest “The X Factor”

In its third season, “The Voice” typically airs at 7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. Currently, the competition is in the battle rounds, which pit two contestants on a team against each other as they sing the same song. Only one moves on to the next round, which is the new “knockout” round.

“The Voice” stars celebrity coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Oklahoma country music star Blake Shelton.
