The NBA season starts Tuesday, but for Oklahoma City Thunder fans, it’s probably a good thing that we have until Thursday night to get ready for the season opener.
Maybe by Thursday, when the Thunder season opens in San Antonio against the Spurs, we will finally all be used to the idea that No. 13 is no longer with us. Today, James Harden was introduced as the new superstar at the Houston Rockets, after the Thunder executed a stunning trade Saturday night after they couldn’t seal the deal with hirsute one.
The Thunder also sent Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward to Houston in exchange for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, two first-round draft picks and a second-round pick.
Since the Thunder and The Beard hadn’t been able to come to a workable agreement all summer and fall, I feel the trade is probably in the best interest of our boys in blue. I feel even more sure after reading The Oklahoman Thunder expert Darnell Mayberry’s thoughts on the trade.
Still, I’m still heartbroken over The Beard. Who knew that being a Big League City would be so hard sometimes? It’s hard to believe that Harden and all his fake-bearded acolytes won’t heating up Chesapeake Energy Arena when the Thunder opens its home schedule Friday night vs. the Portland Trail Blazers.
So, this one is for you, Harden. Hope you enjoy being the Rocket Man. You will be missed here in OKC.
