What to do in Oklahoma on Jan. 13, 2013: Hear the Cleve Warren Quartet at the Norman Depot
Today’s featured event:
NORMAN – Cleve Warren, respected local and regional drummer for the last 45 years, will be joined by Larry Pierce on piano, Aaron Tomasko on bass, and Earl Hefley on sax and woodwinds at the Norman Depot, 200 S Jones, tonight for Sunday Jazz at the Depot. The concert begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for general admission or $7 for students and are available at the depot.
Warren, who has been in over 57 bands and played in 40 states and five countries, is a stylistically versatile musician of great depth, playing rock, blues, country, and jazz. In 1996, Smilin’ Vic and the Soul Monkeys, the band he founded and led, won first place at The International Blues Talent Competition in Memphis, Tenn. They played the W. C. Handy Awards, and toured with the Blues Cruise, passing up an invitation to play President Clinton’s second inaugural ball. Warren also founded and led the successful Short Dogg and the Dangerous Brothers
