UPDATED at 6:15 p.m. Thursday: Hugh Jackman just took to Twitter @RealHughJackman to express his excitement about the “X-Men” casting confirmation: “Great 2 be back where it all began w/ @bryansinger & #xmen days of future past! And 2 work w/ the new cast for more than 4 hrs this time!” -BAM

Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter this week to announce that Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine in the first five X-Men films, will return to the Marvel universe for “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

“I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited! More to come…” Singer posted @BryanSinger.

As previously reported, Singer last month announced via Twitter that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who played Professor X and Magneto in the first trio of X-Men films, are returning for “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
