R&B icon and Grammy-nominated RCA Records recording artist Charlie Wilson’s new album “Love, Charlie” has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart and No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

This entry marks the Tulsa native’s second No. 1 entry on the R&B charts – after 2009′s “Uncle Charlie” – and his fourth top 10 entry as a solo artist. The first single from “Love, Charlie,” “My Love Is All I Have,” is also No. 1 for the second week on the Billboard Urban Adult Contemporary singles chart, according to a news release.

“It’s been a long road to No. 1,” said Wilson in the release. “I want to thank my fans for another No. 1 R&B album and my fourth top ten on the Top 200. What a great birthday gift.”

Wilson, whose career began with his brothers as the incomparable and legendary GAP Band, released “Love, Charlie” on Jan. 29, his 60th birthday. The Oklahoma native has been enjoying an extraordinary solo career that has resulted in Grammy nominations for his last two albums, “Uncle Charlie” and “Just Charlie.” The latter release spawned the chart-topping hit “You Are” which held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Urban Adult Contemporary chart for 13 consecutive weeks.

Throughout his successful career as a solo artist, Wilson has also collaborated with numerous chart-topping artists and producers, including Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, Fantasia, T. Pain, and Justin Timberlake. Most recently, he performed on the 2012 Soul Train Awards with 2 Chainz and for the United Negro College Fund’s “An Evening of Stars,” where he performed his new single and the classic GAP Band hit, “Yearnin’ For Your Love” with Tyrese. He also was honored by the Trumpet Foundation with a Lifetime Achievement award, and the ceremony will air on TV One on March 31.

Widely praised as a dynamic and entertaining live performer, Wilson will be bringing the essence of “Love, Charlie” live to the stage for a series of Valentine’s Day performances at Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City. For more information, go to
