Owasso resident Trisha Yearwood may be a Food Network chef these days, but she showed off a slimmer figure Sunday during the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
The Grammy winner appeared as a presenter on the Las Vegas telecast, which featured a big performance by her husband, Garth Brooks, and fellow country superstar George Strait. To read my ACMs live blog, click here.
“I’ve been dieting and exercising and I’ve lost about 20 lbs.,” Yearwood told People at the Southern Kitchen brunch she hosted at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival in February.
Despite the rich fare she often serves up on “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,” the best-selling cookbook author also told People. “I’m doing very little sugar. And occasionally I have the mac and cheese.”
“Real people battle their weight,” she told People. “We all struggle between eating healthy and falling off the wagon. That’s how I live.”
At the ACMs, Yearwood showed off her trimmer figure in a bright red Stella McCartney dress.
“Trisha has always been a successful, shapely bombshell. Recently she has taken her fitness routine to a new level,” her spokesperson told E!, which has a great pic of her in that figure-hugging red dress.
“One of the ways she has done that is by mixing it up and making exercising fun. As the host of ‘Trisha’s Southern Kitchen,’ she still makes her traditional recipes like mac and cheese and country quiche, but those dishes are balanced with the moderation she has always spoken about.”
Today’s episode of “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen” will feature several recipes best enjoyed in moderation. Titled “Trisha’s College Roommate Reunion,” it has her former roomie, Tina, joining Yearwood in the kitchen as they make dishes that remind them of their college days: Daddy’s Biscuits with Tina’s Chocolate Gravy, Baby Lima Beans, Chicken Pie and Magic Lemon Meringue Pie.
The episode airs at 4:30 p.m. today on the Food Network.
