What they're saying about the Thunder's Kevin Martin

Boston coach Doc Rivers: “We all know this in the league, if you're a scorer, you're a scorer. What Martin does for them is he gets to the foul line, and when you have a guard who can get to the foul line, it really allows you to set you defense more than just a jump shot (does). Two points from a jump shot is great. Two points from the foul line is better because you get to set your defense up every single time and it makes you a better defensive team.”

Thunder coach Scott Brooks: “He provided a spark offensively. There were many nights he helped the offense second unit, not only keep the lead, but add to the lead. He had a great year. I thought he did a good job coming in and filling his role when we needed that guy off the bench to score for us.”

Thunder guard Reggie Jackson: “He's an elite scorer, especially in this league. What he does is special, getting to the line, being able to knock down big shots and hitting 3s. It's my job to try and see the mismatch and we felt he had the mismatch.”

Hall of famer Magic Johnson (during the Houston playoff series): “You got to start Kevin Martin. Houston is going with a small lineup. You give him a chance to get in rhythm and coach Brooks should look to start him in the second half instead of (Kendrick) Perkins.”
