Free Stuff Downtown This Week

by Steve Lackmeyer Published: March 3, 2013

The following is from the good folks at Downtown OKC Inc.:

From Mar. 4-8, downtown Oklahoma City employees can take advantage of free events, activities and giveaways designed to celebrate downtown OKC’s workforce. Presented by Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc., Downtown Employee Appreciation Week highlights the benefits of working in the city’s central core, while thanking employees and businesses owners for doing business here.

“Downtown businesses bring so much energy and life into the heart of the city,” said Downtown OKC, Inc.’s event coordinator, Elizabeth Newton. “We want to not only thank these businesses for helping our city thrive, but give hard-working employees an opportunity to take a break, network with each other and enjoy the downtown amenities.”

Downtown Employee Appreciation Week Programs

It’s Downtown Trivia Day! Watch for online survey links on and on Facebook (DowntownOKC) and Twitter (@DowntownOKCInc) Monday morning. Participants take the short quiz to test their knowledge, and the winner will receive a gift certificate from one of the following downtown businesses: OKC Museum of Art, BC Clark, Red PrimeSteak or Plenty Mercantile.

Start your day off right with free breakfast between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Downtown employees can present their current downtown pay stub, ID badge or business card to claim a free grab ‘n‘ go breakfast at Kitchen No. 324 (324 N. Robinson), Fuzzy’s Taco Shop (208 Johnny Bench Dr.) or Kamps 1910 (10 N.E. 10). Aravalli, the eatery inside Devon Energy Center, will also be giving away free small cups of coffee during this time. (While supplies last at all locations.)

Head down to the Downtown Basketball Court (at the corner of Hudson and Reno) between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a basketball shootout, cornhole games, outdoor ping pong tables and prize giveaways. In addition, each downtown employee who attends will receive a $5 gift certificate to use at the food truck of their choice, including: Big Truck Tacos, Pops, Smokin’ Okies, Roxy’s Ice Cream Social and more.

Visit Bicentennial Park (at Walker and Couch Dr.) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free outdoor concert featuring local cover band “Avenue.” Everyone is invited to enjoy the live music as well as free pizza from Joey’s Pizzeria and bottled water provided by SONIC, America’s Drive-In.

Join us for the annual Employee Appreciation Week party at Leadership Square (211 N. Robinson), 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with a live DJ, free photo booth, prize giveaways and chips and guacamole/salsa/queso. This year, there will also be inflatable games, including a mechanical bull and bungee run.

All events are free of charge courtesy of Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc., and events are open to all downtown employees. For more information, visit or call 405-235-3500.
