Beer Championship Series bracket unveiled

Do you ever find yourself sitting around at home and thinking about what a mess the Bowl Championship Series is? I mean, who doesn’t, right? I was doing the same thing three years ago, but unlike you, you lazy so-and-so, I decided to do something about it. I created an even better BCS: the Beer Championship Series. It’s 64 beers in a March Madness-style bracket. Winners are determined by your vote. This is survive and advance time, people. The winner is crowned Oklahoma’s favorite beer and claims the coveted Golden Taphandle Trophy.

This is the fourth year for the Beer Championship Series, and we’ve got some new wrinkles this year. First, the BCS has its first sponsor. This year’s competition is brought to you by TapWerks, the fine bar in Bricktown with a wall of beer taps that stretches as far as the eye can see. The BCS will culminate Nov. 16 at TapWerks with a special pint night to honor defending champion Marshall McNellie’s Pub Ale and to announce this year’s winner. In addition, you can find the bracket in today’s issue of LOOK at OKC, and at, where you can find links to vote on the day’s match-ups.

Speaking of the bracket, without further delay, behold the 2011 BCS bracket!

First round voting will kick off Monday here on the blog. Surf over, cast your vote and let’s crown a champion!
