Eastbound Interstate 44 reopened after Wednesday morning crash

An Oklahoma City police car was rear-ended on I-44 in northwest Oklahoma City Wednesday morning.

1:25 p.m. The officer whose patrol car was rear-ended on Interstate 44 has been admitted to a hospital with unknown injuries, police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said.

12:30 p.m. Eastbound I-44 at Western Avenue has been reopened, the highway patrol reports.

11:08 a.m. An Oklahoma City police officer has been injured in a crash Wednesday in northwest Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports. The officer was responding to another traffic accident when the patrol was hit, trooper Betsy Randolph said.

The crash is in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 at near Classen Boulevard and is slowing traffic.

The patrol car was rear-ended, Master Sgt. Gary Knight said. He said the officer was not seriously hurt.
