Former Lawton High standout Noel picked for MiLB All-May team

by Ryan Aber Published: June 10, 2013

Former Lawton and Coastal Carolina standout Rico Noel was named to MILB.com’s All-May team.

After struggling in April, Noel had a fantastic May, hitting .326 with 17 stolen bases, a .436 on-base percentage and 16 walks. He’s also one of the top defensive outfielders in the minors.

Before the season, Noel was named by Baseball America as the best defensive outfielder in the Padres system.

Noel was picked by the Padres in the fifth round of the 2010 draft. He was the Padres’ 2011 Minor League Defensive Player of the Year after splitting time between Class A Fort Wayne and Class A-Advanced Lake Elsinore.
