Surrounded by a quartet of powerhouse female vocalists, Muskogee’s Swon Brothers showed off their own considerable strengths on Monday’s live performance episode of “The Voice.”
Zach and Colton Swon took up their guitar to absolutely burn through Bob Seger’s rock classic “Turn the Page,” with Zach effectively showing off his vocal prowess on the big power notes.
The Swon siblings then showed off their tight harmonies as they gave a heartfelt rendition of the classic Loggins and Messina ballad “Danny’s Song,” with Zach on piano.
The duo’s “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton tweeted out a photo last night that showed The Swon Brothers’ cover of “Danny’s Song” at the top of the iTunes country songs chart, with their “Turn the Page” at No. 4. The other semifinalist from Team Blake, 16-year-old Texan Danielle Bradbery, had her two songs from last night at No. 2 and 3, with Shelton’s own hit “Boys ‘Round Here” at No. 5. “As a coach it really doesn’t get any better than this…” Shelton wrote on Twitter (@blakeshelton). No joke.
There’s still time to vote for The Swon Brothers on “The Voice” at www.nbc.com/the-voice.
Along with Bradbery and The Swon Brothers, the other “The Voice” semifinalists are Michelle Chamuel of Team Usher, Sasha Allen of Team Shakira and Amber Carrington of Team Adam (Levine).
The live results episode airs from 7 to 8 tonight on NBC, and I will be following it along live here at BAM’s Blog and on Twitter @BAMOK.
Last week, I got to go to Muskogee to be a part of The Swon Brothers homecoming celebration, including chatting with their family, attending their big hometown concert and looking on as they were surprised with the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame’s “Rising Star” award.
