Thunder beat writer Darnell Mayberry and I are in the middle of sharing 12 candidates the Thunder might consider selecting with the No. 12 overall pick in the NBA Draft on June 27. Pittsburgh center Steven Adams posted the above video of his trip to Oklahoma City on June 2 after his physical exam with the Thunder and the day before his workout with the team.
Adams planned to share a video of the Thunder’s world-class facility and any OKC players he might come across. However, All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook advised Adams not to do so. Adams complied and now knows the protective ways of the Thunder.
While many organizations are more than happy to share workout information, no such luck with the Thunder, which will always be clandestine in its approach under general manager Sam Presti. Nevertheless, Darnell and I will share whatever information we come across as to who works out for the Thunder, which has the No. 12. No. 29 and No. 31 picks in this month’s draft. (Please don’t hesitate to share any information you might find concerning Thunder workouts via Twitter, Facebook, et al.)
So far in our draft candidate series, we have included Maryland center Alex Len, Gonzaga center Kelly Olynyk and Adams. Up next next is Indiana center Cody Zeller. After that, you’ll have to stay tuned to see who else comprises our top 12.
