EDMOND — Arcadia Lake has been closed since June 1 due to hazardous weather, heavy rain and high water.
The lake level is about 12 feet above normal, said Craig Dishman, Edmond Parks and Recreation director.
Officials said they will reopen the parks that provide access to the lake when the water level returns to normal and debris has been removed from the lake.
With Edmond Parks and Recreation employees working to clean up the area, officials expect to open the lake and parks sometime next week, Dishman said.
The city has lost nearly two weeks worth of revenue due to the lake and parks being closed. Visitors pay $6 to $7 entrance fees.
Dishman said city officials expect to make up for the loss in revenue in upcoming months as people visit the lake to escape the heat.
