Rep. Dan Boren, D-Muskogee, on Wednesday said this in reaction to the news that Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Muskogee, was dropping out of Gang of Six talks on deficit reduction:

“I want to thank Tom Coburn for taking a leadership role on the issue of debt reduction. He deserves great credit for sounding the alarm since he became a member of Congress. It is vital for the future of our country that we get this corrected with great urgency. I hope that the Gang of Six or another group will come up with a plan to attach to the debt-ceiling increase. I cannot support an increase without cuts in spending. If we don’t do this, then we will just be pushing it to the next election. We cannot afford to do that.”
