Dillon Overton didn’t hold back Sunday night on Twitter, addressing now former Oklahoma baseball coach Sunny Golloway.
First, the Sooners’ junior left-hander from Weatherford sent out a vague Tweet that, not surprisingly given he was drafted in the second round (by Oakland, No. 63 overall), indicated that his OU career was over. Overton is expected to sign with the A’s soon, perhaps as early as Monday.
Then, Overton addressed Golloway directly, tweeting to Golloway’s account, which has been updated with a picture from Golloway’s introductory press conference at Auburn on Saturday.
Golloway coached the Sooners to five consecutive 40-win seasons before taking the Auburn job Friday. Overton, a Weatherford native, was 9-3 with a 3.02 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 92 1/3 innings.
Late Sunday, Golloway responded. He later removed the tweet.
