John Brooks to co-host Saturday morning radio show

‘Hookie and Brooksie' to debut Aug. 17 on KGHM-AM 1340

John Brooks, the former OU and Oklahoma City Blazers radio voice, said he plans to host a radio show with “Hookie the Bookie” from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays on KGHM-AM 1340, beginning Aug. 17.

“Hookie and Brooksie” will air from a Guthrie auto dealership on Saturday and in studio on Sunday.

Brooks said “Hookie,” who attended Northwest Classen High School with Craig Humphreys and Skip Bayless, played golf at OU. Brooks said each show will have a 10- to 15-minute golf segment with a local pro.

— The 2011 World Series rematch between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals will be featured on Fox's “Baseball Night in America” at 6 p.m. Saturday on KOKH-25 (Joe Buck, Tim McCarver and Ken Rosenthal) and ESPN's 7 p.m. Sunday game (Dan Shulman, John Kruk, Aaron Boone and reporter Buster Olney).

— HBO's “Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel,” which returns at 9 p.m. Tuesday, explores a Boston teenager's campaign to rediscover the Negro Leagues and includes a report from Soledad O'Brien on an innovative MMA program for war veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.

— The Cincinnati Bengals' training camp will be featured on HBO when “Hard Knocks” returns for its eighth season at 9 p.m. Aug. 6.

— KSBI-52 has moved its Friday night Texas Rangers telecasts to its secondary digital channel, 52.2, which airs on Cox channel 215. KSBI president Vince Orza said its regular MyNetwork TV shows have fared well for the station.
