Barack Obama makes it so easy for us to label him as The Great Divider.
This week in announcing an environmental initiative, Obama said, “We don’t have time for a meeting of the flat-earth society.” There you have it: You agree with him on climate change or you’re a Neanderthal.
This was as crude as the stuff the president would like to reduce our consumption of. It’s a black-and-white analogy for an argument that not only has shades of gray but at least 50 of them.
Opinions vary on the extent and cause of climate change. Some may approach the truth more than others, but nobody’s a flat-earther in this debate because of disagreement with the president. To say so is as asinine as the lingering belief that Obama isn’t a U.S. citizen.
Mr. President, round out your rhetoric by dropping out of the flat-earth orbit. It’s divisive and juvenile.
