Nashville 5, RedHawks 2

The Nashville Sounds hit a pair of home runs and received a strong start from Hiram Burgos to beat the Oklahoma City RedHawks 5-2 at Greer Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Thursday night.

Khris Davis and Josh Prince homered for the Sounds. Burgos, on a rehab assignment from the Milwaukee Brewers, allowed three hits in five innings with five strikeouts.

At the plate

The RedHawks' Jimmy Paredes hit his fifth home run of the season in the ninth inning. Carlos Perez added an RBI single.

Brandon Laird, Marwin Gonzalez and Jonathan Villar had two hits apiece for OKC.

On the mound

RedHawks starter Asher Wojciechowski (3-4) worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and four runs with five strikeouts.

Springer's debut

Outfielder George Springer, the No. 3 prospect in the Astros' system according to MLB.com, made his RedHawks debut on Thursday. He went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

The RedHawks and Sounds continue their five game series with a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 6:05 p.m. Brett Oberholtzer (5-6, 4.90 ERA) will start Game 1 for the RedHawks, opposed by Nashville's Jimmy Nelson (0-2, 3.00). Jake Buchanan, recently called up from Double-A Corpus Christi, will start Game 2 for OKC, with Zach Kroenke (4-9, 4.08 ERA) taking the mound for Nashville.
