Fourth of July events planned for Oklahoma City metro area

Oklahoma City metro area celebrations begin Thursday morning and continue through midnight.

Options abound for Independence Day fun, including a downtown Oklahoma City event that will feature live music and a fireworks display.

Bethany: Bethany Freedom Festival, Eldon Lyon Park, 7400 NW 36, 10 a.m. Thursday. Parade, carnival, car show, fireworks in the evening. Information:

Edmond: LibertyFest Parade begins at 9 a.m. Thursday in downtown. ParkFest, offering free watermelon, music, games and contests, starts at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Central Oklahoma. The fireworks display starts at 10 p.m. on the UCO campus. People are asked to bring blankets or lawn chairs. No pets or ice chests allowed.

El Reno: Fireworks display Thursday at Lake El Reno near Elm Street and Country Club Road at dusk, music and food before the display. Information: 262-8687.

Kingfisher: Independence Day celebration, Downtown Park, 100 N Main Street. Parade, horseback rides, food vendors, free concert at 7 p.m. Information: 375-4445.

Midwest City: Tribute to Liberty, Thursday, Joe B Barnes Park, 8700 E Reno Ave. Live music, fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Information: 739-1293.

Moore: Celebration in the Heartland, Thursday, Buck Thomas Park, 1903 NE 12; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with fireworks at dark; food vendors, inflatables, arts and crafts, open car, truck and bike show, sand volleyball tournament. Banana Seat will perform at 7 p.m. at the south pavilion. Information:
