Wednesday Video Spotlight: The Pixies' "Bagboy" video, directed by LAMAR+NIK, who have Oklahoma ties

On Friday, the Internet kind of exploded when the Pixies released “Bagboy,” their first music video in many moons.

The video, which features a teenager sneaking into a tidy family home to smash dishes, shoot fireworks and bathe in milk and cereal, is currently a Vimeo Staff Pick. Plus, it has earned about 853,000 views on YouTube.

It also is the latest imaginative music video from the directorial team LAMAR+NIK, following their super-sweet mini-movie for Shawnee singer-songwriter Samantha Crain’s “Never Going Back,” which debuted in February.

Like Crain, LAMAR+NIK are Oklahoma talents: Jesse Lamar High is a student at the University of Oklahoma who lives in Norman, and Nik Harper is a former student at OKC’s Harding Charter Prep High School who now lives in the Seattle area. Spenser Sakurai, their director of photography on the Pixies video, dwells in Norman and is a former Oklahoma City Community College student.

Along with “Bagboy” and “Never Going Back,” LAMAR + NIK are the masterminds of the buzz-worthy videos “Magnolia” for Lushlife and “Reds” for Houses.

I’ll be bringing you much more on LAMAR+NIK very soon, but until then, just admire the work:
