Last Sunday, I told you about our plans for adding color to most every page of The Oklahoman.

I shared our upgrades to the Life section and told you we wanted to bring stories to you that impact your life.

I heard from several of you, so I decided to continue our conversation.

Publishing a mass product comes with likes and dislikes from all directions. Several said they love the new format on the Nation and World pages. Others said they felt we were “dumbing down” those same pages.

As we experiment with The Oklahoman, we want to be clear that the men and women of our News and Information Center will continue to uphold the First Amendment. We will continue to bring you hard-hitting, investigative journalism. I heard from several of you that this is important. We agree.

But we hope we can do more than report the facts to you. We hope we can provide perspective, context and analysis when warranted. We can tell you how the Legislature voted, and we will, but what's more important is how new laws affect you, your pocketbook or your business.
