OSU's Marcus Smart scores 14 points to lead USA in U19 World quarterfinals

Oklahoma State sophomore Marcus Smart scored 14 points as the USA's men's U19 basketball team defeated Canada to reach the semifinals of the FIBA World Championships.

Smart led all scorers in the game played Friday at Prague in the Czech Republic. He had six points in a 2 1/2-minute stretch of the third period that put the USA up by 31. The lead eventually reached 43.

Seven Americans scored in double figures.

The United States is undefeated in the tournament after seven games and will play Lithuania in a Saturday semifinal. Another semifinal features Australia and Serbia.

Lithuania beat China 89-58 on Friday; Australia beat Spain 87-76 and Serbia defeated Croatia 73-66.

The finals are Sunday.
