Temperatures will heat up in Oklahoma Monday.

The heat index will be near 101 degrees Monday with even hotter days ahead this week, the National Weather Service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Monday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 101. South wind 9 to 13 mph.

Monday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 74. South wind 8 to 13 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 102. South, southwest wind 8 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 76. South wind 7 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 102. South, southwest wind 8 to 10 mph.

Wednesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 75.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny and hot with a high near 98.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 75.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 99.

Friday night: Mostly clear with a low around 75.

Saturday: Sunny and hot with a high near 98.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 73.

Sunday: Partly sunny with a high near 95.
