Focusing on her job

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has one of the highest approval ratings of any governor in the U.S. No Democrat has announced plans to run against her, and no primary opponent has arisen for the 2014 election.

Fallin is raising campaign funds anyway, preparing to spend more than $4 million. Some may consider it a waste of funds. In reality, Fallin’s focus on fundraising shows she isn’t taking the job for granted. This should actually please voters.

Many political scandals involve incumbents who considered themselves bulletproof and no longer feared electoral challenges or the political consequences of their actions.

Others with Fallin’s strong standing heading into the 2014 elections might become complacent. That Fallin isn’t ignoring her re-election race, in spite of the lack of any serious opposition at this date, means she understands that the voters still have the final say in the election process and shouldn’t be ignored.
