Brill's Motor Speedway in Meeker has closed and will not finish the 2013 dirt car racing season. The quarter-mile dirt track is owned by Mark Brill, a former Pro Stock champion at old State Fair Speedway. He told speedwaynews.net that dwindling car counts and sagging attendance were reasons why he and wife Debbie decided to close the facility off State Highway 18.

Six divisions raced on Saturday nights at the track, but in June, the Brills dropped the Modified class due to poor car counts. The track also faced same-day competition from race tracks in Lawton, Ada, Ardmore and Sapulpa.

“We extend our apologies as this decision does not come easy,” Mark Brill said on the track's Facebook page. “We want to express our gratitude and appreciation for all of your support during our ownership and operation.”

Brill said the track is for sale or lease.
