All I can say is wow! I halfway expected this post to be so cute and uplifting. I, instead, find myself a little freaked out to be honest. But, I am laughing, out loud a few times at my desk. I am not sure if that is wrong or not, but you have to admit some of this is hilarious to think how the parents reacted! It does explain a few things; maybe I can cancel the therapist for my daughter now. Ha-ha. I am actually quite used to freaky things being said around my house. My daughter has autism and has a fascination with death and how things happen. Mix that with not being able to put the correct emotion to a situation, you might end up with laughter about horrible things, crying because she is excited or anger from attention being given. She speaks her mind no matter what the thought might be with no filter. Some of it is quite disturbing, yet I find myself laughing later. After all, laughter is the best medicine, right?? I, myself, have asked myself a few times, where did she even get this thought? I govern what she watches quite close, so who knows? – Darla Lindauer

I was asked to share this with everyone. I spoke with a few veterinary clinics, and they have had numerous cases of animals having heat-related illnesses, some even dying. Honestly, I do not think of this much because my cat is indoors only, but this is one reason why I do not get a dog. I love dogs, but I am gone from home all day, and I feel guilty they get no attention all day, but also they are stuck inside and cannot go to the restroom if needed or they are stuck outside in the elements. I know those of you who have a pet as a family member know this already, but for those of you who have pets as “pets,” keep this in mind every time you leave the house. I honestly do not get the dog chained up with no shade in some backyards. They are usually bigger dogs. Maybe it is for protection, but meanwhile I feel horrible for them. If you just have to have them, then build a better fence and give them some shade. It hurts me to see any animal like that. Maybe we should put the owner on the chain for a bit. I bet that would change it. Be safe! – Darla Lindauer

Featured post – Ministry of Supply’s Coffee Infused Socks – “It is supposed to work like a filter for bad odors, effectively preventing your feet from smelling after a long day at the office.”
OK, so the first thought was, good idea and it might even work? Being an addict to coffee, I was thinking more of coffee being soaked into your feet to help with energy, like a coffee IV or something. I guess a sock as an odor eater, would work, too. Just not as energizing. Ha-ha. There is a video to watch, which I found to be quite funny. Why is the music in the background so adventuresome? At the end, I felt like I had just been on a journey with Frodo and Sam to throw the ring into the lake of fire and was successful! If these socks can make me feel like that, then I definitely want some! The other thing I noticed is they are striped like clown socks. When he says it will be the best sock you wear to work, I laughed. I do not think the red and pink stripes will go over well with my heels, and I am pretty sure no man at my job has any socks of this loudness! I have an idea. Why don’t you change your socks daily and wash them in-between wearing them? Should I make a video on how to do that? – Darla Lindauer

I am not even hungry at the moment, but these look amazing! I think my girls, as picky as they are, will love them! I have seen quite a few made with mashed potatoes as a topper, too. I am going to make these this weekend. The best thing about recipes like this is you can adjust them to your taste. My girls are young, and anything red is a turn off for them, so I would remove the red bell peppers from the recipe. My girls would prefer the chicken, but this would be yummy with extra lean ground beef or turkey, as well. I think some ground turkey with an onion soup mix would be good! Best thing to do is get things your children will eat or you can hide in there. I saw one recipe where they diced up some zucchini in it. The kids will never know! I can’t wait! – Darla Lindauer

As I read this post, I had quite a few emotional responses to it. Rubbing food on DVDs to fix scratches or furniture to hide marks, really? What about the leftover food? Won’t it spoil? I wonder if they did this and then put the DVD up and went back to a big fuzzy moldy mess in the box. I will not try that, but it might work. The bowl suggestion to amplify your phone speaker makes me curious. I might have to try this one with someone’s phone. I am still living in the stone age of phones. Then, I got to the toaster suggestion and my mouth dropped open with amazement. Why did I not think of this? I did not know you could turn a toaster on its side. I guess I just assumed I couldn’t. I will be trying this one. I love finding things like this, true or not; it is fun to wonder who the heck came up with these things. – Darla Lindauer
