Tulsa police say officers were searching for two suspects in an armed robbery at a convenience store on Sunday night when they arrived at the Mohawk Manor Apartment Complex.

According to police, two officers opened fire when the 17-year-old left an apartment and pointed a gun at police. Authorities say the 17-year-old was struck once in the chest. A second suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Police say the wounded teenager was taken to a hospital, where he was in surgery early Monday.
