Customers of the 4 Seasons Gas & Food store, 13 NW 63, remembered a store clerk Wednesday as a kind and considerate man who helped others.
Habib Hajimirzaei, 62, worked at the store for years and knew customers by name.
“We called him Mr. Nice Guy,” said Cory Thomas, 29, a longtime customer who lives near the store. “He was a nice guy. He'd help you out.”
Hajimirzaei was shot and killed about 11 p.m. Tuesday at the store, police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said. He was one of three men killed in separate homicides in a two-hour period Tuesday night.
Robert Watson, 30, who also lives nearby, said he drove by the store late Tuesday and saw yellow crime scene tape.
“My heart is hurt,” Watson said. “He was a good guy. I can't believe it happened.”
Watson said he tried to steal beer from the store when he was a teenager, but Hajimirzaei chased him with a baseball bat. Hajimirzaei did not call the police and gave Watson another chance to stay out of trouble.
“He was a wise man. He had everybody's best interest in mind,” Watson said. “He was a dedicated person.”
Store owner Sassan Rabiefarr was working the cash register Wednesday morning and said he was too busy with customers to comment about the killing.
