Oklahoma State picked up its 13th and 14th commitments of the 2014 class earlier this week, adding Stamford (Texas) Stamford receiver James Washington, according to Scout, and San Antonio (Texas) Brackenridge athlete Ramon Richards, according to Scout and Rivals.

Washington, the first receiver commitment in this class, is not rated by Scout but is a two-star prospect on Rivals. He tallied 78 catches for 1,147 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior and helped lead Stamford to the Class 1A, Division I state title. He also held offers from Houston and Texas State but pledged to the Cowboys following an unofficial visit earlier this week.

“I was really impressed,” Washington told Scout. “That’s the best stadium I’ve ever seen.”

Richards, who plays quarterback for Brackenridge but is being recruited as a defensive back, is not rated by Rivals or Scout. He was offered a scholarship during the spring evaluation period and also committed during an unofficial visit to Stillwater earlier this week.

“I hung with (cornerbacks coach Van) Malone and (safeties coach Tim) Duffie and we had a good time,” Richards told Rivals. “I love the atmosphere and they not only want me as an athlete but as a person.

“I like the athletic facility and the campus and then I noticed when I was in the office talking with Coach Malone that some of the other (incoming) freshmen walked in talking and getting along and they were getting along as if they’d been there for years so I know it’s easy to get a long over there.”

Richards also held offers from Houston, Rice, Sam Houston State, Harvard and Yale. He joins Trevion Roberts of Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower as high school quarterbacks from this class who are projected to play defensive back in college.
