An Out of Town Kid's Perspective

Hello all, my name is Rhiannon Walker, and I’m an intern for The Oklahoman.

A Washington D.C. native, over the last two and a half months I have called Oklahoma City my home.

But now I’m only five days away from flying to Orlando, Fla., for the National Association of Black Journalists Convention, and then five days later, I’ll return home.

It’s been an enjoyable stay, and I have truly appreciated the kindness I have received since entering the state. Thank you all for that.

Being from an entirely different region has resulted in some interesting experiences and memorable times, so I thought I’d share some of them with you all.

This is the kid from out of town’s perspective.
